Another beautiful Ohio weekend... Testing out the Bazooka Gold Trap (BGT) 36" inch sniper (used) and the Bazooka Gold Trap (BGT) 24" inch Super Mini (used) I added 1/4 inch hardware cloth to both sluices over the grizzly bars and some deep V mating in front of the grizzlys since you can't see inside the fluid bed trap. Before you go and order a BGT...make sure you read this thread: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/sluicing/494628-how-long-did-take-you-receive-your-bazooka.html I had to get both of my BGTs on eBay... Rough jade is one of the most valuable minerals on Earth. Have you walked right over it? I show some Wyoming nephrite jade that I've found, talk about an upcoming jade mining project, and discuss the mineralogy that can lead to you finding your own jade deposits. There has been a "green gold" rush going on but few know about it. Learn how to identify jade, how to find jade, and how to become a better prospector or rock hunter. Gold in Ohio does exist, you just have to work a little harder for it. Usually gold in Ohio takes a little more skill to uncover. There have been a few large nuggets found here, but as a rule it is not the amount of gold found, but the love of the hunt for gold that draws people from all over the state to pan.
In this rock and mineral video I show rockhounds about collecting peristerite. We explore an abandoned uranium mine and gather persiterite from a gravel bank beside a stream in Northern Ontario.

My first 3 attempts at using the unit, with custom modifications, and what TO do, and what NOT to do.. There is 'good' gold in gravels out there. Keep at it, and try and learn from your mistakes.. ;P
In our NewsHour Shares moment of the day, visit an Ohio mine that provides the de-icing rock salt that stops your road from becoming a virtual slip-and-slide in the winter.
A belt line is used to carry spoils from open pit coal mine. A D-11 pushes material down to a 950 LeToureau loader. The loader dumps material into a crusher that breaks the rock down small enough to be sent up a series of conveyor belts and a long line to the stockpile. There are five previous mined seams of coal in this pit and you can see some of the old workings in the video.

Some writers discount settlements that were abandoned as a result of a natural or human-made disaster, using the term only to describe settlements which were deserted because they were no longer economically viable; T.
